Videocon Mobile Phones today announced its foray into the powerfully emerging Android phone market with the launch of Zeus, priced at Rs 12,900.
The phone is equipped with an Android operating system, 3.2-inch multi-touch, 5-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi.
Android is an open source operating system for mobile and wireless devices, originally developed by Google that lets developers create standalone applications, combined type. Allows users to download more than 70,000 applications, including games, music, music players and services based on location.
Handset makers such as HTC, Samsung, Motorola and spices have already launched Android phones in India, with more companies wishing to join the bandwagon in future. Many players such as Dell have also introduced the Tablet PCs with this platform.
According to a research, the Android operating system consists of a 17.2% share of the smartphone market worldwide for the quarter ended in June 2010, third after Symbian and Research In Motion.
